Manorhamilton Farmers Market takes place every Friday from 10 AM to 2 PM in the grounds of the Bee Park Resource Centre.

During the winter months the Centre offers its indoor facility to host the market. The market was developed with six other markets on a Cross border basis under the Origin brand and supported by Leader group of company’s in its catchment area. The market commenced trading in April 2005.

As Market hosts we seek to increase the number and variety of producers at the Market to complement existing producers and the local business community. We wish to encourage rurally based individual and farming enterprises to develop appropriate food products for sale at our Farmers market.

Shanvaus Apiary, situated in Manorhamilton, Co. Leitrim, was established by Reinhold Ostrau and Monika Edler in 1990, as a bee breeding and honey production business.

Since then our honey as well as the pollen and a wide range of hand-crafted beeswax products - cosmetics, home care, and candles - have become well known in the area.

Shanvaus Apiary has participated in the Farmers Market movement right from the start, attracting a substantial number of regular customers as well as new ones, by keeping a high standard of quality and by continuously adding new and attractive items to their display. Propolis processed in various forms, honey sweets, and carefully selected foreign honeys can now also be purchased.

Shanvaus Apiary is set in a peaceful wooded environment, ideal for beekeeping courses. Our courses are conducted with the aim of enabling the participant to treat the bees with the respect they deserve and to enjoy the seasonal chores in the hope of being rewarded with a honey crop (weather permitting). All lessons have theoretical and practical components from the beginning, following the different aspects of the beekeeping season through the year.
